A day at Pre school

Learning through play

All resources and activities are set up to ensure all Early Years Foundation Stage Areas of Learning are covered. This is achieved by careful termly/half termly/weekly and daily planning.  If you wish to find out more about this please just ask your child’s key person.

We work to a planned curriculum using the Early early foundation stage which your child will follow until the end of their Foundation/reception year at school.

The seven principle standards for learning are:

  • Personal, social and emotional development.
  • Communication and language
  • Literacy
  • Understanding the world.
  • Physical development.
  • Expressive Arts and Design
  • Mathematics

Learning Journey

This is the records kept by your pre-school charting your child’s progress in all areas of their development. It is an Online Learning Journey developed through a secure nursery software. Observations are recorded on an iPad, linked to the EYFS curriculum for you to be able to view online anytime you wish from your mobile, tablet or computer via secure login information.  We also encourage parents as much as possible to add to their child’s learning Journey.

It is a great tool which enables you to get an insight into what your child is doing and what they enjoy, this will also be given to you to keep when your child leaves pre-school to go on to school, a lovely record of their time at Little Deers.
