What we offer

Little Deers staff arrive early to ensure the pre-school is set up and ready. We feel it is important for the children to be able to come in and play straight away, and by doing this it helps with the settling in process with new children, attention is on exciting toys and activities as soon as they arrive, this makes it easier for the child, and the parent/carer who drops them off.

We have a selection of equipment, games and toys, which are rotated in line with the planning to offer a full range of activities and types of play.

We are extremely lucky to be situated in the heart of Radford Woods and visit with the children on a daily basis.

Settling in

Your child will be appointed a key person, who will support your child throughout their time at Little Deers and offer them the best possible start to school life; all children are different so we work together adapting our learning environment to the individual child and their needs.

As we are still navigating our way through the Coronavirus Pandemic our settling in procedure will remain a little more limited.

One parent/carer will be permitted to enter the setting, however it will be mandatory for you to wear a mask at all times whilst inside the building.  This is to continue to protect the children in our care, our staff and yourselves whilst times are still quite uncertain.

During your stay with your child a chair will be provided for you, to enable social distancing from the other children in the setting, minimising the risk as much as possible.

You will be able to stay will your child for a period of 30minutes, whilst your child explores and familiarises themselves with the setting.  At the end of that time your child’s key person will discuss with you your options i.e to leave with your child should you feel they aren’t ready to be left without you or leave your child in the care of the Little Deers staff for an agreed period of time, this can be anything from 10-15minutes to the remainder of the booked session.  This can be repeated as many times as you feel necessary on the days your child is booked in.

Due to being a very busy setting, settling in sessions can only be offered for the days you have booked your child in for to ensure we comply with staff:child ratios.

Your child’s key person will continue to discuss with you the best course of action for your child during the settling in period.
